Energy Company of Ukraine is a shareholder in 31 companies of the fuel and energy complex that generate, supply and export electricity. Legally, the Company is a joint-stock company whose charter capital is set up of state stocks of 4 generating companies, 21 supplying companies, 1 pumped-storage plant, 100% stocks of 1 hydropower generating company, 4 cogeneration plants.

The Company's charter capital must also receive shares of Ukrinterenergo, after it becomes a joint-stock company. With its charter capital – UAH 9.8 billion - Energy Company of Ukraine is the largest company in Ukraine.

Generation by the Company's plants increased from 34% of the total generation in 2004 to 39.5% in 2005 and 2006.

Suppliers controlling interest in which is held by Energy Company of Ukraine supply power in 20 oblasts of Ukraine with over 30 million inhabitants. The annual volume of electricity supplied to the network of oblast energy companies (oblenergos) is 109 billion kWh or 57% of the national supply. Export increases every year – from some 5 billion kWh in 2004 to 10.4 billion kWh in 2006.
