Open Joint Stock Company «Centrenergo» is one of the leading power generators of Ukraine. Core business is production of electric and thermal energy. The company includes three thermal power plants -Vuglegirska, Zmiivska and Trypilska TPP, plus servicing company «Remenergo». The facilities are located in key industrial regions of Ukraine - Kyiv, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, with main industries being heavy engineering, food, processing and agriculture. Lucrative geographic location of OJSC «Centrenergo» power facilities is the key to sustained sales of the produced electricity.
OJSC «Centrenergo» is the second largest energy generator of Ukraine and an important element of the Ukrainian power grid, covering some 8.1% of electricity demand.
Total installed capacity of these power plants is 7,550 MW or 15% of Ukraine's total. Power company caters for 23 power units with installed capacity between 175 and 800 MW, including 18 coal-fired units and 5 gas-and-fuel-oil units.
OJSC «Centrenergo» development strategy includes the following:
- extending service life of the power units for 15 - 20 years;
- boosting power units' installed capacity by 8 -10% from nominal levels (220, 325 MW), in parallel increasing reliability and flexibility of the equipment;
- increasing of the power units'efficiency to the modern levels of 36%, lowering consumption rate of equivalent fuel (at rated capacity) to 345 g per kWh;
- ensuring efficient utilisation of low quality coal with minimum natural gas injection in a wide range of loads;
- boosting computerisation levels of the power unit control and monitoring equipment;
- reduction of environmental pollution to the European standards, including the coal ash to 50 mg/ nm3, sulphur oxides to 400 mg/nm3, nitrogen oxides to 1,300 mg/nm3;
- bringing the specifications of the regulation system in line with European norms UCTE.
