On October 17, 1960, for the purpose of electrification of the Cherkasy region the following enterprises were established:
• State Enterprise «Cherkasy electric networks» – to develop and maintain electric power networks with the voltage of 110 kV and higher;
• State Enterprise «Cherkasy Power operation department of the rural economy» – to develop and maintain 35-0,4 kv electric power networks and to supply electricity to the customers.
On June 1995 the State Energy-Supplying Enterprise «Cherkasyoblenergo» was established as a result of the reorganization of two state enterprises (since March 12, 1999 – Open Joint Stock Company «Cherkasyoblenergo»).
In accordance with the license issued by the NERC the Company provides transmission and supply of the electric power via 150-0,4 kv electric power networks.
The total area serviced by the Company is 20,9 thousand km2.
The total length of 150-0,4 kv overhead transmission lines is 35849 km, the length of 10-0,4 kv cable lines is 2066 km. The numbers of 150-110 kv substations, 35 kv substations and 10/0,4 kv substations are 39, 133 and 8931, respectively.
The total transformer capacity is 3796,4 МVА.
The mission of the enterprise is:
• to provide reliable and continuous supply of electricity to the regional customers through developing technically the electric power networks and deploying the advanced equipment and technologies;
• to ensure 100 % settlements for the supplied electricity without exceeding the standardized technological energy expenditures specified for the electricity transmission (in the last three years the technological power expenditures for the electric power transmission by the OJSC «Cherkasyoblenergo» are lower than those specified by the standards);
• to perform systematically maintenance, repairs and testing of equipment and networks;
• to deploy effectively the advanced technical and information means.
