The state joint stock company «Kyivtok» was established on 30 April 1930 and it was renamed into «Kyivenergo» in 1934. In 1998 according to the decision of the stockholders' general meeting the joint stock power supplying company «Kyivenergo» was established through corporatisation on the basis of the state joint stock power supplying company «Kyivenergo». «Kyivenergo», one of the largest CIS power suppliers, provides Kyiv with a full energy supply cycle, including continuity of production processes, energy transmission and distribution. Energy sources and an extensive network of heat mains, cables, and overhead lines ensure the company's full coverage of Kyiv electricity needs and 85 % of thermal energy requirements. Installed electric capacity of the power plants: • CHPP-5 «Kyivenergo» - 700 MW; • CHPP-6 «Kyivenergo» - 500 MW. Total length of cable lines makes 10.1 km, overhead lines — 1,600 km. Most of the cable power lines are 10 kV and 0.4 kV distribution grid. Significant portion of overhead lines are 110 kV high-voltage and 0.4 kV low voltage grids. Transformation and control of the power supply is provided via 60 of 35 - 110 kV substations (total capacity of 3,708.9 MVA) and 3,293 of 6 - 10 / 0.4 kV transformer substations (total capacity of 2,472.9 MVA). Installed heat capacity of the combined heat power plants CHPP-5 is 1,874 Gcal/h, CHPP-6 — 1,740 Gcal/h, heating networks — 3,106 Gcal/h, municipal heating systems — 1,757 Gcal/h, «Епегду» plant — 104 Gcal/h. Distribution and transportation of heat energy to consumers is done via the network of heat pipelines (total length of 2,300 km in double-pipe terms). Required hydraulic power is provided by 19 booster pump stations. The company maintains and services over 2,000 of heating energy facilities. Development Prospects: • implementation of the approved investment programme for upgrading and modernisation of the company's facilities, raising funds for the reconstruction of the existing and construction of new boiler houses and heating networks; • implementation of the CHPP cost-cutting chapter of operational improvements program (optimal load distribution between power units, reducing costs for fuel, equipment repair, etc.); • preparation of cable networks for the UEFA Euro-2012 (construction and modernisation of grids, substations and transformers); • continuing implementation of the already running programme for reducing the actual electricity loss; • further expansion of functions offered at service centres for maximum contact and interaction with the consumers; • completion and commissioning of the first stage of «Pozniaky» borough boiler house in the heating season 2011 — 2012; • modernisation of the «Energy» waste incineration plant.
